Accessibility Statement

Our commitment to making scalanceglobal.com usable by everyone, what we have built in, the limits we know about, and how to tell us about a problem.

Effective date: Last updated:

1. Our Commitment

Scalance Global wants everyone who visits scalanceglobal.com to be able to read our content, use our calculators and contact us, including people who use assistive technology or who have a disability. We work to make the Website easier to use for all visitors and we treat accessibility problems as defects to be fixed.

This statement describes where we are today. It is not a certification, and it does not promise that every page meets every requirement at every moment.

2. The Standard We Work Toward

We aim for the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA, which are the widely used international guidelines for accessible web content. This is our target: the Website may not yet meet it everywhere, and the known gaps are listed in Section 4.

3. What We Have Built In

Among the things we do on the Website:

  • Pages use a clear structure: one main heading per page, headings in order, and labelled page regions
  • The page language is set, so screen readers choose the right voice and pronunciation
  • Menus, accordions, dropdowns and dialogs can be used with a keyboard, and keyboard focus is shown
  • Images that carry meaning have text descriptions, and purely decorative images are hidden from screen readers
  • Layouts adapt from phones to wide screens, and text can be enlarged with your browser’s zoom
  • Motion follows your device settings: if you have asked for reduced motion, entrance animations are off and the homepage banner does not rotate by itself
  • Decorative animation is also left out on phone-sized screens, where it adds little and slows pages down
  • Calculator fields have visible labels, and results appear on the same page as the figures you enter

4. Known Limitations

We know about the following and are working on them:

  • Rotating homepage banner. On the homepage the banner advances automatically and does not yet have a pause control. Visitors who set their device to reduce motion do not see it rotate.
  • No skip link. There is not yet a “skip to main content” link at the top of each page, so keyboard users move through the menu first.
  • Third-party content. Embedded content from other providers, such as the map on our contact details, is outside our control and may not be fully accessible.
  • Articles. The descriptions on images inside blog articles depend on what each author adds, and some older articles may be missing them.

5. How We Check

We review pages with automated accessibility testing, including Lighthouse audits, as part of our regular site checks. Automated tools find only some problems, which is why we also rely on reports from the people who use the Website.

6. Browsers and Assistive Technology

The Website is designed to work with current versions of the major desktop and mobile browsers and with the screen readers and other assistive tools commonly used with them. Older software, or unusual combinations, may not work as well.

7. Tell Us About a Problem

If something on the Website is hard to use, or you need information in another form, please tell us. It helps if you include the page address, what you were trying to do, and the browser or assistive technology you use. We will look into it, and if you cannot use part of the Website we will work with you to give you the information or service another way.
